Despite not yet turning 26, Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella has already established quite the statistical record for himself.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who tip the former Cagliari midfielder to become a future captain of the Nerazzurri, and note that no player his age or younger as made as many Serie A appearances.

Between his time at Cagliari and since joining Inter in the summer of 2019, Barella has made a total of 219 appearances in the Italian top flight.

This means that the 25-year-old is 53rd on the list of players with the most appearances currently active in Serie A.

Notably, all 52 of the players ahead of Barella are older than the Inter midfielder.

Meanwhile, the Gazzetta notes, Barella has notched five assists so far this season, something which very few players aged 25 and under have done.

The likes of Newcastle United’s Allen Saint-Maximin, Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, Real Sociedad’s Mikel Oyarzabal, and none other than Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe are the player in his age bracket who Barella has for company in this respect.
