Inter’s dominance across the statistics of Sunday’s Milan derby clash against AC Milan looked more like a match against one of Serie A’s minnows than a typical match against their city rivals.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who note that the match was statistically the Nerazzurri’s most one-sided they’ve played all season across all competitions.

Inter had 58% of possession in Milan’s half on Sunday, an enormous figure which reflects just how much it was the Nerazzurri forcing the issue for the majority of the match.

Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri’s defensive line was held at an average of 58.7 metres from their goalline, and indication of how aggressive and proactive they were in their approach.

These figures plainly show how, despite a 1-0 scoreline that may have indicated a fairly tightly-contested affair, Inter were in fact dominant against the Rossoneri in a way that they don’t tend to be, even in matches against teams far lower down in the table.
