Former Inter, Juventus, Cagliari, and Udinese defender Kwadwo Asamoah believes that Inter can still be a factor in the Serie A title race despite Napoli appearing to be the runaway leaders.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Radio CRC, via FCInterNews, the Ghanaian also gave his thoughts on former Nerazzurri and current Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti’s style of management from his experience working with the coach over a season in Milan.

Asamoah spent a season working with current Napoli coach Spalletti when the experienced tactician was on the bench at Inter.

The Ghanaian has been signed by Inter on a free transfer from Juventus in the summer of 2018, and he got a sense of the style that the coach works.

From his perspective, the fact that Spalletti has managed to guide Napoli into being the runaway league leaders in the Serie A table comes down to his ability to motivate players into working in his tactical system so that the team plays seamlessly.

Despite the fact that Napoli currently have what looks to be a nearly unassailable thirteen-point lead at the top, however, Asamoah believes that Inter still have what it takes to push them until the end of the season.

“Congratulations to the coach and the team,” Asamoah said of Spalletti and Napoli, “they’re having a great season.”

“Luciano coached me at Inter, and he’s a great guy who can really motivate you.”

“He hasn’t surprised me with how well he’s doing, he’s done a great job.”

The Ghanaian went on that “It’s true that Napoli are currently far ahead in the table, but if they are to slip up it could be hard for them to pick themselves back up.”

“Even now,” he suggested, “I think that Inter can still be a thorn in their side.”
