Legendary former Inter, Lazio, and Atletico Madrid striker Christian Vieri believes that it is “absurd” for this Nerazzurri team to be as far behind Napoli as they are in the Serie A table considering their respective performance levels.
Speaking on his Twitch channel, via FCInterNews, the former striker marvelled at the fact that Inter are not fighting close to the league leaders considering the quality that they have shown at various points in the league season.
When Inter have been at their best, it would be hard to say that they have not played like candidates for the Scudetto.
Sunday’s dominant win over AC Milan was the latest example of such a performance, but the win against league leaders Napoli could also be pointed to, among others.
However, despite being the only team to make the Partenopei taste defeat in Serie A so far this season, Inter will be left scratching their heads as to how they have allowed themselves to fall so far behind over the course of the campaign.
“Inter far stronger than even the best possible Milan team right now,” Vieri said looking back at the derby, “yesterday they had an incredible bench, at one point they put on Lukaku and Brozovic.”
“It’s absurd for this team to be thirteen points behind Napoli,” he added, “they can and must do far more.”
