Former Inter and Real Madrid striker Ivan Zamorano feels that current Nerazzurri striker Lautaro Martinez is finally starting to show what he is really capable of once again.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, the Chilean praised Martinez’s growth in form, and suggested that this is the “real” Martinez that fans of the club can expect to continue to see.

Martinez has at times been a player criticized for a lack of consistency during his time at Inter, as fallow periods in front of goal and subpar performances in important matches have tested the patience of some of the Nerazzurri fanbase.

However, this is certainly not a criticism that can be levelled at the 25-year-old based on the performances of this season.

Martinez has been a player who has set the tone for the entire team with displays filled with technical quality as well as energy and tactical awareness, and just as importantly, has done so on a very regular basis.

From the point of view of Zamorano, this is more than just a good period for Martinez, and he expects that the Argentine striker will start showing this level to come.

“Lautaro Martinez is in great form,” the Chilean said, “we Interisti have gotten the real Lautaro ever since the World Cup.”

“He’s playing very well, he doesn’t just score but helps the team,” the former striker noted, “the way he’s playing is great for both him and Inter.”

Zamorano also gave his old side a chance in the Serie A title race despite the big gap to make up on Napoli at the top of the table, noting that “In football, nothing is guaranteed, miracles can always happen.”

“Inter must focus on the fact that there are still a lot of matches left to play, even though if Napoli continue to play like this then the Scudetto will probably be possible.”

“But Inter must dream,” Zamorano argued, “they have to do what they did against Milan, and hope that maybe if Napoli lose a couple of matches then they can be in a better position.”
