Legendary former Inter defender Ivan Cordoba still believes that the Nerazzurri will be in the running for the Serie A table until the end of the season.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, the Colombian stressed that the self-belief in this Inter team will allow them to fight all the way to try and catch up with league leaders Napoli.

The thirteen-point gap between Napoli and Inter at the top end of the Serie A table is certainly not something that the Nerazzurri will have been anticipating before the season began.

Looking at the quality of Inter’s squad, it would be hard to say that the team should not be fighting for the title.

Moreover, there have been several performances which have suggested which the team is capable of showing the level needed to fight for the title, albeit not on a consistent basis.

For Cordoba’s part, the former defender still has faith that the Nerazzurri’s quality and confidence can see them through until the end even if it does not look terribly hopeful for them right now.

“They know they’re a good team and capable of making up ground,” Cordoba said, “and then there’s also the head-to-head clash with Napoli, towards the end of the season, which could still prove to be decisive in a few months.”

“So I say that Inter won’t give up, they’ll keep believing it’s possible, as they always do.”

“If [Napoli] are better then they’ll win the title, but they have to prove it on the pitch,” the Colombian continued.

“Inter have already won a trophy, they’re in the semifinal of the Coppa Italia, and they also have a chance to have a go in Europe.”

“I have no doubts,” Cordoba concluded, “Inter will stay in it as long as it’s mathematically possible.”
