Inter are very keen on moving for Atalanta defender Girogio Scalvini, but the increasing valuation of the 19-year-old is likely to be a major obstacle in any pursuit of him.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInter1908, who report that Scalvini is seen by virtually everyone around the Nerazzurri as the top target to reinforce the backline, but that he is valued at no less than €40 million by his club.

Inter are set to have to sign at least one defender in the summer, with Milan Skriniar set to leave at the end of his contract.

Meanwhile, the uncertainty around the futures of all of Stefan de Vrij, Francesco Acerbi, and Danilo D’Ambrosio mean that there is likely to be even more turnover in the backline.

Scalvini is seen as an ideal profile to add quality and high future potential to the back three, and according to Tuttosport, is the top target from the perspective of all of the Nerazzurri’s directors and coaching staff.

However, Inter are far from the only club around Europe who are admirers of the 19-year-old, with Bayern Munich among the teams ready to move for him.

Accordingly, Atalanta would demand no less than €40 million for Scalvini, and it would be very difficult for Inter to get a deal done at this asking price.
