The return of Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic from injury will come as a much-needed boon to the Nerazzurri’s ability to rotate personnel in midfield.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who highlight how Henrikh Mkhitaryan in particular will finally be able to get some much-needed rest with the Croat back fit and available.

Brozovic being out for much of the season so far has meant that a new first-choice trio has emerged in the form of Hakan Calhanoglu, Nicolo Barella, and Mkhitaryan.

This midfield has functioned unexpectedly well in Brozovic’s absence, as Calhanoglu has really stepped up within the role of regista to fill in for the 30-year-old.

However, the sense is that this trio has been run into the ground without Brozovic available to rotate in or give Simone Inzaghi a real selection dilemma in central areas.

No one more so than Mkhitaryan, who has started nine matches in a row across all competitions on the left side of midfield.\

With Brozovic back, there will be competition for places again, and the sense that all of the key midfielders can be rested at various points without the team suffering a drop-off in quality.
