Inter will face an intensely motivated opponent in their next Serie A match, as despite Sampdoria’s position in the table, the Blucerchiati will still have a strong desire to pull off an improbable escape from the relegation zone.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who note that the Ligurians will only be further galvanized by the bitter disappointment of late drama that saw them drop two points away to Monza.

Sampdoria looked to be heading towards a truly priceless away win to try and claw their way out of the bottom three of the Serie A title against newly-promoted Monza, but a 99th-minute penalty by Matteo Pessina saw the Brianzoli snatch a point right at the death.

This has been difficult for coach Dejan Stankovic and his players to digest, but they return to training today after having had a day off to cool their heads.

There is no doubt that the feelings within the Sampdoria camp are bitter and frustrated, but they are aiming to take these emotions and turn them into motivation on the pitch.

The window is starting to close from which Sampdoria can stage their great escape, and each match has to be seen as a must-win opportunity to start building the platform from which to do so.

Accordingly, when Inter travel to the Marassi next week, they will be well aware that they are facing a team with an intense hunger that will be shown across the ninety minutes.
