Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin believes that the very one-sided nature of the derby between Inter and AC Milan over the weekend was very unusual.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster RAI Radio, via FCInter1908, Biasin stressed how there was almost no precedent for one team to hand so much of the initiative to the other in a Milan derby as the Rossoneri had done on Sunday.

Inter only beat Milan by a scoreline of 1-0, but in truth, this hardly reflected the extend to which the Nerazzurri had been on top throughout the match.

The majority of the match was played in Milan’s half of the pitch, and even in their final third, as Inter spent the majority of the first half in particular probing for openings against a Rossoneri team who looked very passive.

From Biasin’s perspective, it was very unusual indeed to see a derby match where the run of play looked like this.

“I’ve never seen a derby match like that,” the journalist said.

“Milan surrendering so much of the match to their opponent was something I never would’ve expected,” he continued.

“Their preparations for the match must not have been right,” Biasin speculated, “they looked like a team who were very down, no one was running for the team.”
