The return of Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic could be just the thing that’s needed for other Nerazzurri midfielders to start getting back on the scoresheet.
This is the suggestion in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who argue that the Croat can change the balance in midfield to allow the other players to get forward and score from central areas.
Inter’s midfield has coped very well in Brozovic’s absence, with Hakan Calhanoglu filling in adeptly in the deepest role in midfield.
However, one thing that has been missing has been goals, as none of Inter’s midfielders have scored in any of the team’s matches since the return from the winter break.
If Brozovic is to start matches regularly again, this will change the balance.
The 30-year-old has proven that he can shoulder an immense of the workload in the deepest areas and in buildup.
This can potentially mean that the likes of Calhanoglu, Nicolo Barella, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan can be freed up to participate more in the final third, and in the view of Tuttosport, could see them scoring much more regularly.
