The former youth team coach of Inter-owned midfielder Giovanni Fabbian is hoping to see the 19-year-old grow into being ready for the Nerazzurri first team.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio in an interview published in his homepage, Fabbian’s Under-15 coach from Padova Claudio Ottoni expressed confidence in how far the young midfielder can go in the world of football.

Fabbian’s performances for Inter’s Primavera team last season were enough to inspire confidence that he would be ready to make his mark within the senior professional game.

However, the sheer extent to which the 19-year-old has succeeded in his loan spell with Reggina so far this season, with his outstanding performances a key part of the Calabrians’ push for promotion to Serie A, has exceeded all but the most optimistic predictions.

For his part, Fabbian’s former youth team coach Ottoni always backed the midfielder to have a top career, and now he is hoping that there is a real future at Inter for him.

“I hope he returns to Milan but not just to be a depth option,” the coach said.

“He’s still just a 19-year-old, he’s young, he has to play,” the coach continued.

“Here in Italy we are very reluctant to allow young players to play at top clubs like the Nerazzurri,” he noted, “I hope the club puts their faith in him though and lets him become a regular starter, though, he has all the quality needed and he has no fear.”
