Inter midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan could be used as a second striker or Number Ten in the Nerazzurri’s Serie A clash with Sampdoria on Monday evening.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the versatile Armenian could have a role to play in the attack rather than in central midfield for Monday’s match.

Mkhitaryan has been one of Inter’s most-used players this season, as the 34-year-old former Roma midfielder has been a reliable and tireless option in the absence of Marcelo Brozovic.

With Brozovic back from injury, it is likely that the Armenian will be able to be rested more frequently as the competition for places in midfield emerges.

It is likely that Mkhitaryan will start on the bench against Sampdoria, the first time that he will not be in the starting eleven since the return from the winter break.

However, the 34-year-old could still come on as a substitute during the match, and according to the Corriere, he could be used in an attacking role rather than a more central one.
