Inter, Napoli, and Lazio linked Hellas Verona wingback Josh Doig is happy to have been linked with some of Serie A’s biggest teams despite having only moved to the Italian top flight in the summer.

Speaking to UK-based news outlet The Times, the 20-year-old Scot also spoke about the feeling of playing at the San Siro since he made the switch to the Giallorossi.

Doig only arrived in Serie A in the summer, signing for Verona from Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership.

However, it has not taken long for the 20-year-old to catch the eye of many of the league’s heavy hitters.

Inter have been among the teams linked with Doig, who has a style of play that could make him an ideal reinforcement on the left side of the Nerazzurri’s customary 3-5-2 formation.

For his part, Doig is proud of the fact that his performances for Verona have already caught the eye of some bigger clubs in Italy.

“It’s always nice to be linked to these big clubs,” the wingback said.

“Obviously it’s good for me and for my confidence,” he noted, “I’ve experienced some speculation a few times in the my career.”

Doig then went on to note that “I’ve played at Celtic Park and Ibrox, with the stands attached to the pitch – the fans are right above you.”

“At San Siro they’re further away, but when a goal is scored like the one the other week [Lautaro Martinez’s in an Inter win against Verona at the San Siro] you hear a noise that’s unlike anything else you’ve heard before, it’s crazy.”

“Even just playing at San Siro, a stadium with so much history behind it, a pitch that’s been played on by some of the best players in the world… it’s just magical, it’s fantastic,” the Gialloblu player noted.
