Inter are keen to avoid the contract extension talks with defender Alessandro Bastoni to get wrapped up before the potential for another situation like that of Milan Skriniar arises at all costs.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInter1908, who report that the Nerazzurri are pushing to make rapid progress in the negotiations with the 23-year-old as they do not want there to be any possibility of the player going into the final season of his deal as Skriniar was allowed to.

Inter decided to allow Skriniar to come into the current season without either extending his contract past the end of June, or selling him on for a sizable transfer fee.

Given that the former Sampdoria defender has decided to reject the club’s offer of a new deal and will leave to join Paris Saint-Germain during the summer transfer window, the club feel that they have learned their lesson from the situation.

According to Mediaset, the Nerazzurri are pushing to get moving in negotiations with Bastoni, as even though the former Parma and Atalanta defender still has until the end of June 2024 to go on his contract, the club want to wrap things up before the end of the current season.
