Former Napoli striker Roberto Sosa is confident that the Partenepoi have wrapped up the Serie A title and questioned how Inter could still be in contention.

The Azzurri sit 13 points clear of second-placed Inter in the Serie A table with 17 matches remaining of the season, and are on course for a first Scudetto since 1990.

In an interview with Italian radio station Vikonos Web Radio/TV earlier today, and as reported by FCInterNews.it, the Argentine former attacker insisted that Inter had no hopes of clawing back Napoli and felt it was delusional to think they could win the league.

“Napoli crush everyone. The team is consistent, it has a mental resilience that can last more than 90 minutes,” Sosa claimed.

“During the World Cup there was a lot of talk. On 4 January, Napoli lost at the San Siro, playing only one half of the game badly, then they went on to win five in a row. Inter dropped points to Empoli and Monza. I wonder how they can say they are still in the running for the Scudetto.”

The former Udinese and Boca Juniors player also insisted that Juventus had never been a genuine candidate for the title, even before being hit with a 15 point penalty for capitals gains fraud last month.

“Then there’s Juve, punishment aside, who before playing at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona had won eight in a row without conceding a goal. They arrived in Naples and were smashed, conceding five, then three with Atalanta and two with Monza. Please, Juve were never in the running,” he concluded.

Sosa joined Napoli from Ascoli in 2004 and scored 28 goals in 116 appearances, helping the club win the Serie C1 title in 2006.
