Porto are hoping to have attacking midfielder Otavio available for selection when they face Inter in the Champions League later this month, after an injury.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Portuguese outlet O Jogo, the Portugal international is hoping to return to action ahead of schedule after picking up a muscle strain in his thigh in training at the start of the month.

Otavio has been scheduled to be out of action for six weeks, but returned to Brazil for traditional medicinal treatment in an effort to halve that time frame and make himself available for the first leg of the Champions League first knockout round against Inter on 22 February.

With the first leg set to take place in Italy at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, Otavio is determined to be involved and is hopeful that the alternative approach will hasten his recovery.

The 28-year-old, who was born in Brazil and came through the academy at Internacional, made the move to Porto in 2014 and has made 265 appearances for the club.

A Brazil U20 international, Otavio switched allegiances to represent Portugal at senior level in 2021.
