Barcelona could decide to allow Inter-linked midfielder Franck Kessie during the summer transfer window in order to be able to register new signings.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInter1908, who report that the Blaugranas could also be tempted to offload the 26-year-old given the need to make space on the wage bill.

Whilst Inter ultimately declined the possibility of a swap deal involving Kessie and Marcelo Brozovic in the January window, it is no secret that the Nerazzurri and particularly Sporting Director Piero Ausilio are longtime admirers of the Ivorian.

The 26-year-old former AC Milan and Atalanta midfielder is still a player who Inter would consider a move for in the summer, and the fact that he is currently not starting regularly at Barcelona could mean that the player himself would be happy to make the switch for more playing time.

Whether a deal would happen could be dependent on Barcelona’s stance, and according to the Corriere della Sera, the Catalans would have a clear motivation to let Kessie leave if he is on the fringes of their plans.

Barcelona will struggle to register new signings without making room in their squad based on the stated intentions of La Liga to enforce financial regulations, and this would mean that a sale of a player like Kessie who they signed without a transfer fee would represent a vital capital gain.

Meanwhile, the Blaugranas are also keen to slash their wage bill, and so the departure of a player on high wages who does not play regularly such as Kessie would be a great temptation for the La Liga giants.
