Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi feels that striker Romelu Lukaku is getting better and better in his form, and is ready to make a big contribution.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia ahead of his team’s Serie A clash with Sampdoria, via FCInterNews, the coach gave his thoughts on Lukaku’s form, and also spoke about what he expects from the match against the Blucerchiati.

Lukaku has played in each of Inter’s past two matches, starting against Atalanta in the Coppa Italia before making an appearance from the bench in the second half of the derby against AC Milan.

The 29-year-old has yet to get back to his very best, not scoring or assisting a goal in either of the two matches, but there were certainly flashes of what he can give to the Nerazzurri.

Lukaku will get another opportunity from the start against Sampdoria, and for his part, the striker’s coach Inzaghi has high expectations.

“He did well against Atalanta and Milan,” the coach said.

“He keeps improving more and more, I need the best version of Lukaku, and based on what I see in training every day I’m very confident,” the coach added.

Of whether or not the form of Napoli at the top of the table affects his team, Inzaghi said that “We just have to focus on taking as many points as we can, not looking ahead or behind us in the table.”

And asked whether he thinks there’s a risk of his team not being ruthless against Sampdoria, Inzaghi replied “No, we know they’re a team with quality.”

“They’ve been playing excellently under a coach I know well, he’s left his mark on the team,” he added.

“We have to play with concentration.”
