Sampdoria are likely to line up with a 3-5-2 formation in this evening’s Serie A clash with Inter at the Marassi.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that Blucerchiati coach Dejan Stankovic is likely to try to mirror the Nerazzurri’s formation from the start, whilst new signing Jese will start on the bench.

Sampdoria have typically lined up with a 3-5-2 formation since Stankovic took over as head coach.

According to the Corriere della Sera, the Serbian tactician’s idea to try and counteract his old club Inter is to try and mirror the Nerazzurri’s formation as closely as possible to prevent easy numerical advantages anywhere on the pitch.

This was the approach that AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli attempted in the Milan derby last weekend, but Stankovic will be hoping that he can get it right unlike the Rossoneri coach.

Meanwhile, the Corriere della Sera reports that former Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain forward Jese will start on the bench, having officially signed for the Blucerchiati on a free transfer.
