Inter CEO Beppe Marotta feels that there is little to be said about the confrontation on the pitch that took place between striker Romelu Lukaku and midfielder Nicolo Barella during yesterday evening’s Serie A clash with Sampdoria.

Speaking to the Twitch stream of Italian news outlet Calciomercato.it, via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri CEO chose to downplay the spat that had seen the striker gesturing angrily and shouting at his teammate.

Late on in the first half of yesterday’s Serie A match away to Sampdoria, Lukaku grew very visibly frustrated with the negative body language on show from Barella.

The striker appeared to imitate the midfielder’s gesture, also shouting to him imploring to improve his attitude.

There could well be suggestions that this hinted at discord behind the scenes, although Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi made a point of stressing that the pair remain good friends in his remarks after the match.

For his part, Marotta chose to downplay the subject altogether, as when he was asked about it he simply replied “There’s nothing to say about it.”
