Inter striker Romelu Lukaku did not show anything like his best form in the Nerazzurri’s goalless draw with Sampdoria yesterday evening.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who gave the Belgian a score of just 5/10 for his performance in the player ratings for the match.

Lukaku was given the opportunity to start against Sampdoria, and as with the Nerazzurri as a whole started fairly brightly as he was aggressive against the Blucerchiati backline and pushed for an early goal.

However, after a shot that was straight at Sampdoria keeper Emil Audero early on, the Belgian’s influence waned as the match wore on.

Particularly in the second half, Lukaku was ineffective as a series of attempted flicks and layoffs never seemed to find a teammate, and eventually coach Simone Inzaghi decided to remove the 19-year-old and put on Edin Dzeko on in his place.
