Inter had plenty of decent chances to open the scoring against Sampdoria in yesterday’s frustrating goalless Serie A draw, but the truly decisive one never arrived.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInter1908, who argue that the Nerazzurri’s opportunities came in a large quantity but lacked sufficient quality.

Inter took plenty of shots against Sampdoria, with a total of 25 attempts recorded over the course of the match.

However, only a couple of real saves were forced out of Blucerchiati keeper Emil Audero, whilst a lot of the attempts that the Nerazzurri took were hopeful efforts from range or lacked real conviction.

The end result was that the Nerazzurri huffed and puffed trying to turn the majority of possession into a telling opportunity, but never really had the decisive moment that would open up the match, and had to settle for sharing the points.
