Sampdoria head coach Dejan Stankovic is still wishing the best to his old team Inter and his Nerazzurri counterpart Simone Inzaghi despite the fact that he sat on the other side of the dugout this evening.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia after the goalless draw with his former team, via FCInterNews, the coach praised the job that Inzaghi has done at Inter and wished the Nerazzurri success over the rest of the season.

It will have been hard for Stankovic to put his connection with Inter completely out of his mind in this evening’s match.

The former Serbian international made himself a club legend over his time as a Nerazzurri player, where the former midfielder was a vital component in a successful period, the climax of which was the European Treble in the 2009-10 season.

However, Stankovic did focus on the task at hand in this evening’s Serie A clash with Inter, and his team earned a point that could well prove to be precious in the relegation battle after a hard-fought display.

Nevertheless, the Serb is impressed with this current Inter team, and wishes them the best.

“I have to give my congratulations to Inzaghi,” Stankovic said.

“Inter are a very strong team.”

“I wish them all the best,” the former midfielder added.
