Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi made the need to take advantage of positive spells of dominance a key theme of his talk with the team about what had went wrong in the team’s goalless draw away to Sampdoria.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the coach particularly noted a lack of ruthlessness during the first twenty minutes when the Nerazzurri had looked by far the better side.
Ultimately, Inter let the match against Sampdoria get away from them by allowing the Blucerchiati to grow in confidence and in belief that they could take a result from it.
During the second half, the defensive performance from the Ligurians looked far more assured than anything that Inter were offering in attack.
For Inzaghi, the root cause of all of this was in the early parts of the match, when the Nerazzurri needed to to better to make their spells of pressure and dominance count.
The coach told his players that the most important thing is for them to put matches to bed when they have the chance, and to not risk them becoming more and more complicated as the clock wears down.
