Inter will not go after Torino defender Perr Schuurs if both Stefan de Vrij and Francesco Acerbi are to stay at the club past the end of the current season.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri would see the former Ajax defener as a replacement for one of de Vrij or Acerbi and not for Milan Skriniar.

Schuurs is certainly a player who has come onto Inter’s radar with his performances for Torino this season.

The 23-year-old has shown an adeptness at playing in a back three with the Granata, whilst his performances have led to him being considered one of the outstanding defenders in Serie A this campaign.

However, Schuurs is not seen by Inter as a possible replacement for Skriniar who is set to join Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

Rather, the Dutchman would have the profile to replace either de Vrij or Acerbi in the central role in the Nerazzurri’s back three.

Neither of the pair’s future at Inter beyond the end of the season is certain, as de Vrij’s contract runs out at the end of June, and Acerbi is only on loan from Lazio until the end of the campaign.

Inter are working to secure both defenders’ futures, however, and Schuurs would only become a target in the event that they fail to do so with one of de Vrij or Acerbi.
