Milan Mayor Beppe Sala feels that the possibility of Inter and AC Milan building a new stadium in the Hippodrome area of San Siro could represent a feasible solution to get their new stadium built in the city of Milan.
Speaking at the Salone del Mobile event, via FCInter1908, the Milan Mayor stressed that the most important thing in his eyes is that the new stadium be built within city limits, and that he would welcome the Hippodrome solution if it allows that to happen.
Inter and Milan are pressing ahead with their plans to build a new stadium, but where it will be constructed remains very much up in the air.
Given that the clubs’ first choice of building in place of the existing San Siro has faced so many bureaucratic hurdles, alternatives have been considered such as building in the Sesto San Giovanni area.
However, another possibility would be to build in the Hippodrome area adjacent to the existing San Siro, which would see the clubs stay within the city of Milan but would bypass the lengthy bureaucratic delays which surround their current plans.
“It could also be a good solution,” Sala said, “but honestly I don’t know anything about it yet.”
“As long as it’s built in Milan, then it’s certainly something fine by me,” he added.
