Inter coach Simone Inzaghi still has faith that he can get the strike partnership of Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez in form down the stretch this season.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that despite the fact that Lukaku has been out of form and doubts have emerged about the Belgian’s future, Inzaghi has not lost faith.
Lukaku and Martinez did start against Atalanta in the Coppa Italia last month, and there were certainly positives to be taken from the duo’s performance even if it looked as though Lukaku needed to shake off some rust.
Signs have continued to be mixed in Lukaku’s appearance off the bench against AC Milan and then his start against Sampdoria in Monday’s goalless draw.
From Inzaghi’s perspective, however, the coach does not want to take the option of using the pair together off the table with many vital matches to come during the spring.
Accordingly, the coach is working in training to try and get the pair in form playing together for the rest of the season.
