Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin suggests that the excessive criticism being received by Inter coach Simone Inzaghi by large sections of the fanbase is counterproductive.

Tweeting about the matter, the journalist compared the current Nerazzurri coach to former Inter and current Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti, and suggested that the team’s performance against Sampdoria on Monday does not warrant this level of criticism.

Inzaghi has faced some backlash for the way that the team performed on Monday in a frustrating goalless draw away to Sampdoria.

The feeling is that the team lacked a Plan B, and that mentally there was a bit of a lack of ruthlessness in how the players could not turn dominance of possession into anything telling in the final third.

However, Biasin sees the more positive side of the match as well, and does not feel that it is entirely fair to criticize Inzaghi so much.

“These pot shots at Inzaghi for a match in which Inter had 65% possession and took 25 shots are totally self-defeating,” he argued.

“Inzaghi has to improve, there’s no doubt. But which coach in Serie A is close to perfection? Spalletti. And where has Spalletti coached in the past?”

“We all have to learn from our mistakes,” he concluded.
