Former Genoa, Sampdoria, and Empoli goalkeeper Gianluca Berti feels that Inter are the top side in Serie A after Napoli, but that they’ve been without important players at key points during the season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, via FCInter1908, the former keeper gave his thoughts on the Nerazzurri’s form so far this season, stressing the importance of some injury absences to how the team has fared in Serie A.

It would virtually impossible to look past Napoli as being the strongest team in Serie A this season.

However, the only team to have beaten the Partenopei so far during the campaign have been none other than Inter.

Moreover, there have been enough statement results from the Nerazzurri to suggest that the team could well be much closer to Napoli than they have ended up.

However, in searching for an explanation for why they are not, injuries could become a compelling explanation, and this is what Berti turns to.

“After Napoli, Inter are the strongest team in the league,” he argued, “but they’ve dropped a lot of big points, and I think Inzaghi’s team have really missed some important players who can make the difference.”
