Former Inter CEO Ernesto Paolillo is hoping that the Nerazzurri will be sold to new owners in the coming months.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, via FCInter1908, the former executive stressed how, given that Inter are in need of an injection of cash to rebuild the squad, they can hardly go on in the financial predicament that they face under current owners.

The story with Inter is now a familiar one, as with seemingly each transfer window there are financial restrictions and ambitious targets for a net profit in the market which not only restrict spending but also necessitate selling players.

For Paolillo, this is hardly sustainable, nor is the fact that Inter are having to target players who are either available on free transfers or in very low-cost deals.

For the former CEO, the only thing that would change things would be a sale of the club to different owners.

“Without money, they are having to target players who are virtually being liquidated, like Acerbi and Smalling,” Paolillo observed.

“I really hope that a new buyer arrives for Inter because there’s a real need to rebuild the team,” he went on.

The former CEO noted that “We also have to consider that, by dint of not being able to spend money, they’re no longer able to produce as many top players from the youth academy.”

“I think we should also start rebuilding from there,” he argued.
