Inter striker Romelu Lukaku insists that his dispute with teammate Nicolo Barella has been resolved, after the pair argued during the goalless draw with Sampdoria on Monday.
Barella aired his frustrations during the draw and got into a verbal altercation with Lukaku, causing a stir amongst observers, but the latter was full of praise for the midfielder ahead of this evening’s match against Udinese.
In an interview with Italian television broadcaster Sky Sport Italia before kick-off at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, and as reported by FCInterNews.it, Lukaku claimed that Barella was one of the best players he had ever lined up alongside, and praised his tenacity.
“If I have to choose a player to go to war with it is Barella, one of the best teammates I’ve had in my career,” the Belgium international declared.
Lukaku has struggled since his return to Inter on loan from Chelsea last summer, but is seeing his inclusion in the starting line-up against Udinese as an opportunity to add to his two goals so far this season in all competitions.
“We did a great job with the team and the coaches, I had a few games to get in shape and now I’m there. Do I miss scoring? It’s normal, a striker has to score goals and win, I think it’s normal,” he concluded.
Lukaku enjoyed two prolific seasons at Inter from 2019 until 2021, before making a €115 million move to Chelsea and returning to the Nerazzurri on loan one year later.
