Inter striker Romelu Lukaku is playing for his future at the club when he starts against Udinese this evening, with the Nerazzurri ready to cut their losses on him.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere della Sera, the 29-year-old is expected to be named in coach Simone Inzaghi’s starting line-up for the visit of the Zebrette, and the pressure is on for him to impress.

Lukaku has endured an injury-hit season since returning to Inter on loan from Chelsea last summer, whilst his fitness and form issues have limited him to just two goals all term.

Indeed, the Belgium international has not scored in Serie A since the opening day of the season, and whilst Inter had been keen to extend his loan deal earlier in the year, it is becoming increasingly likely that CEO Beppe Marotta will now send him back to Chelsea.

Lukaku has the remaining months of the season to prove that he is the same player who scored 64 goals in 96 appearances prior to leaving Inter for Chelsea in 2021.

Elsewhere, Marcelo Brozovic will also be handed a start against Udinese, for the first time in five months.
