Inter wingback Denzel Dumfries revealed that his favourite goal for the club was his first, as he netted in a victory over Roma last April.

The Netherlands international was interviewed in the official matchday programme ahead of the Nerazzurri’s Serie A clash against Udinese at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza this evening, and looked back on his maiden goal against the Giallorossi last season.

“If I have to choose a goal that made me emotional I would say the first one with Inter, the one against Roma,” Dumfries claimed.

“I remember Bastoni’s beautiful cross into the box, I came running and found the header for the final goal for 3-0, it was a beautiful moment that I always remember with pleasure.”

Dumfries also suggested what his strongest characteristics are, as he approaches the latter stages of his second season at Inter since joining from PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2021.

“Concentration, discipline and determination are essential characteristics that are part of my career. The phrase that represents me? A goal without a good plan to achieve it remains just a dream.

“There are several people who in some way have marked my professional life. The coach who gave me my debut, Alex Pastoor, certainly gave me an important chance for my career. David Mendes da Silva played with me at Sparta Rotterdam, I always had a lot of discussions with him, and then Edgar Davids.”

Dumfries also claimed that he was enjoying life in Italy and in the city of Milan, after his switch from the Netherlands.

“In my career there are several important stages, the city where I made my debut is Emmen in Holland, there I played my first professional match against FC Emmen, an important presence because it was my first. Milan is a beautiful city, there are so many things to do, it’s a great place to be.”

Dumfries has made 71 appearances for the Nerazzurri in all competitions, scoring seven goals.
