Porto head coach Sergio Conceicao feels that he and his team cannot afford to get ahead of themselves and lose focus on their league campaign by being distracted by next Wednesday’s Champions League meeting with Inter.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of this evening’s Liga Nos meeting with Rio Ave, as reported by FCInter1908, the Portuguese coach stressed that the focus is on their domestic campaign, which is “like a Champions League match” to them.

Inter and Porto will both be feeling the looming presence of the upcoming Champions League round of sixteen first leg, a match which both of the pair have been waiting three months to play in.

The round of sixteen tie will be a crucial opportunity for both teams to potentially secure a spot in the quarterfinals of Europe’s top club competition.

However, both have their own domestic leagues to worry about, with Inter facing Udinese this evening and Porto having a match against Rio Ave.

“We’re not getting ahead of ourselves, our focus is entirely on Rio Ave,” Conceicao said.

“Rio Ave is like a Champions League match for us, we’re completely focused on getting a win.”
