Inter midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan believes that the Nerazzurri can make an impact in the Champions League ahead of their Round of 16 clash against Porto on Wednesday.

The former Armenia international netted as Inter overcame Udinese with a 3-1 win in Serie A yesterday evening, but Simone Inzaghi’s side now turn their attention commitments and the first leg of their tie against Porto in midweek.

In an interview with Italian television broadcaster DAZN after the final whistle at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza yesterday, and as reported by FCInterNews.it, Mkhitaryan felt that Inter had shown that they were a team to be feared.

“We do it every day, we can win against Porto. It is important to prepare well, believe in it and play with confidence,” the 34-year-old claimed.

“We can win against anyone because we are Inter and we are strong, we have shown the whole world that you don’t mess with us.”

The former Roma midfielder appeared to be physically struggling at the end of the win against Udinese but insisted that he felt fine, and was looking forward to taking on Porto.

“I’m fine, I have some pain. I hope to recover for the next game. Today was important for morale and to prepare us for Porto positively. We are happy with the victory, it was difficult but we did a great job and didn’t give up.

“I needed to score and I did, I hope to continue like this. If the coach picks me to play then I play, if not I help my teammates from the bench to achieve our goals.

“I’m playing a different role, it’s not easy but thanks to Dimarco’s assist I scored and we won,” he added.

Mkhitaryan has made 29 appearances for Inter in all competitions since joining on a free transfer from Roma last summer, scoring three goals.
