Inter midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is proving his worth to the team after making his 14th start in a row in the 3-1 win over Udinese yesterday.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the former Armenia international has become a reliable figure in midfield for Simone Inzaghi’s side and was influential in the win at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza yesterday, scoring a fine goal from the edge of the box.

Mkhitaryan arrived on a free transfer from Roma last summer and his signing is being viewed as a shrewd piece of business, particularly for the way in which he is able to operate across the midfield and link up with Hakan Calhanoglu and Marcelo Brozovic.

The 34-year-old was entrusted with marshalling the midfield against Udinese and it is reported as being telling that with the return of Brozovic from injury, Inzaghi opted to rest Calhanoglu rather than the Armenian.

Mkhitaryan has scored three goals in 29 appearances for Inter across all competitions this season.
