Gaetano Oristanio’s impressive form on loan at Volendam is putting the Inter-owned midfielder on the radar of Italian national team coach Roberto Mancini.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Oristanio’s decision to move to the Eredivisie has paid off, with the 20-year-old standing out in the Netherlands and helping Volendam climb out of the relegation zone.

Mancini is looking for young talent to add to his Azzurri squad, with a focus on finding attack-minded players to ease the pressure on strikers Ciro Immobile and Giacomo Raspadori.

With Gianluca Scamacca and Andrea Pinamonti struggling for form this season, a space has opened up for Oristanio in a more advanced position and he could be called up by Mancini in the next international break.

Oristanio initially moved to Volendam in 2021 but opted to remain at the Dutch club for a further season last summer, and he is yet to feature for Inter’s first team.
