Former Inter coach Andrea Stramaccioni is a big admirer of current Nerazzurri midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and feels that Roma must feel that seeing the back of him in the summer was a regret.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, Stramaccioni praised Mkhitaryan for the performances that he has put in since joining Inter from the Giallorossi during the summer transfer window.
Mkhitaryan arrived at Inter with the expectation of being essentially a backup midfielder, replacing Arturo Vidal in the lineup as an experienced and reliable player who could give other players a breather by playing.
Instead, the former Arsenal, Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund, and Shakhtar Donetsk man has proved to be virtually indispensable in the Nerazzurri’s starting eleven.
The Armenian’s goal against Udinese on Saturday underlined his importance to the Nerazzurri, but in truth it was only the latest contribution from a player who has started every match since the return from the winter break.
“Roma must have a lot of regret about letting Mkhitaryan leave,” Stramaccioni suggested, “he’s a player who I am a big fan of.”
