Legendary former Inter, Roma, Real Madrid, and Sampdoria forward Antonio Cassano is skeptical when he hears Nerazzurri Sporting Director Piero Ausilio praise the job that’s been done by Simone Inzaghi.

Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, via FCInterNews, the former forward criticized the current Nerazzurri coach despite the confidence in him expressed by Sporting Director Ausilio in an interview yesterday.

Yesterday Ausilio spoke to the press, where the Sporting Director made clear that his view is that the team are heading in a positive direction under the stewardship of Inzaghi.

For Cassano, however, this is not the case, as the former forward believes that the team are not playing to their potential under the former Lazio coach, and that they would be better off looking for a new coach.

“I heard Piero Ausilio speak yesterday, someone I respect greatly, who described Inzaghi’s work at the club as extremely positive, but as a fan I have to say that Inter have to be fighting for the Serie A title, not just winning the Supercoppa and the Coppa Italia,” he said.

“This season has been a train wreck for me, and everything points to it being a disappointment in the end,” Cassano added.

“Inter shouldn’t have any trouble getting into the top four,” he added.

“As far as the Champions League against Porto, though, there are question marks,” the former forward predicted.

“I wasn’t impressed by the match against Udinese, if they’d faced a striker more clinical than Success then they lose that match.”
