Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi is happy to be coming face-to-face with a friend and former teammate in the form of Porto head coach Sergio Conceicao.

Speaking to InterTV ahead of tomorrow evening’s Champions League round of sixteen first leg match, via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri coach praised his Porto counterpart, with whom he has a long history.

During their respective playing days, Inzaghi and Conceicao were teammates for a period at Lazio.

Both of the pair proved to have a life in football that was only beginning as they hung up their boots, as each have become renowed as coaches as well.

Conceicao is currently at Porto, with the Portuguese coach having been at Inter as a player as well.

Meanwhile, Inzaghi was never an Inter player during his playing days, but made the switch to the Nerazzurri from Lazio as a coach during the summer of 2021.

Inzaghi noted that “Conceicao was a teammate of mine at Lazio, he’s a friend and I’m happy to see him again.”

Of the match, the coach predicted that “It will be a match that comes down to moments, we have to have a good sense for when to drop off and when to be more aggressive.”
