Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana has brushed off the brief spat that he and teammate Edin Dzeko had during the Nerazzurri’s 1-0 win over Porto in the Champions League.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia after the match, via FCInterNews, the Cameroonian stressed that frustration boiling over is something that occasionally happens on the pitch, and expressed his happiness at the first leg victory.

Inter’s Champions League round of sixteen first leg against Porto was always likely to be a match with a strong emotional undercurrent, and so it proved.

The two sets of players had a few flashpoint incidents, and at one point during the first half, it was two Inter players whose frustration with each other boiled over in the form of Onana and Dzeko.

For his part, however, the keeper does not feel that the incident amounted to much, and he stressed that there are no lingering hard feelings.

“This is just something that happens on the pitch, everyone has the right to speak their minds,” Onana said.

“It’s just the adrenaline of the pitch, sometimes when we get angry at each other it pushes us to win matches, all the better,” he added.

“We’re happy with the result, it was an important match,” the keeper continued.

Of his double save, the Cameroonian said that “It was at an important juncture of the match, we did well to manage the different stages of it, happy for the win and for Lukaku’s goal.”
