Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has absolutely no issue with the fact that there will be more competition for starting spots in midfield now that Marcelo Brozovic is back fit and available.
Speaking to InterTV after the team’s 1-0 Champions League win over Porto, via FCInterNews, the 29-year-old stressed that the most important thing is having everyone available for the run-in of the season.
In Brozovic’s absence, Inter have found a midfield balance that works with a first-choice trio of Calhanoglu, Nicolo Barella, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The Turkish international certainly showed yet again how proficient he can be in the deep-lying role in centre of the pitch with his performance yesterday, as he has been the man to make sure that Brozovic hasn’t been missed too much during his injury.
However, the Croat also came on during the second half, and gave the team yet another dimension in midfield.
For his part, Calhanoglu doesn’t mind having to compete for places if it means that the team have as much quality available as possible.
“I’m happy about it because we need all the players in the squad available, we’re happy to have everyone back,” he said.
“Now we have the entire midfield available, and we know that everyone has quality and deserves to play,” he added.
