Inter’s win against Porto in yesterday’s Champions League round of sixteen clash against Porto was certainly something that the team fought for all over the pitch, but was ultimately decided by the two players furthest forward and back.
This is the suggestion in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who note the massive importance of striker Romelu Lukaku and goalkeeper Andre Onana to the 1-0 scoreline.
Inter kept yet another clean sheet in a big match against Porto, but they would hardly have done so without the heroics of their goalkeeper.
Onana made several top saves to preserve the clean sheet and make sure that the Nerazzurri headed into the final stages of the match with an opportunity to win on the night.
If the Cameroonian accounted for the “0” in the scoreline, the Nerazzurri still needed some inspiration to get the potentially decisive “1” at the other end against a Porto defense who proved very tough to break down.
This came from striker Lukaku, who came off the bench and immediately made the Nerazzurri look more threatening, finally unlocking the match with his goal for 1-0.
