Legendary former Inter, Roma, Real Madrid, and Sampdoria forward Antonio Cassano feels that things still won’t be easy for the Nerazzurri as they head into the second leg of their Champions League round of sixteen clash with Porto.

Speaking on his Instagram story, via FCInterNews, the former forward gave his thughts on Inter’s performance in the first leg, suggesting that the team were only able to win due to the red card to Porto midfielder Otavio.

Inter head into the second leg of their round of sixteen tie in Portugal with a crucial advantage, but a very slender one.

The Nerazzurri had to wait until late on in the first leg at the San Siro to break through, as second half substitute Romelu Lukaku scored the game’s only goal during a late spell of intense pressure that came after Porto midfielder Otavio was sent off.

From Cassano’s perspective, Inter would have had little hope of scoring had the Porto player not been given his marching orders.

“To me it looked like a balanced match, Onana took it into his hands with three insane saves,” the former forward said.

“Inter had to suffered, but played a serious match.”

“Lukaku did well as a substitute, he gave the team physicality and a threat in behind,” he continued, “he did very well.”

Cassano then noted that “Otavio’s sending off made it easier for them, otherwise it would have ended 0-0.”\

“Now the Nerazzurri go to Portugal with a slim advantage, but reaching the next round is still uphill.”
