Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni feels that the assist that he delivered to midfielder Nicolo Barella during a 2-0 win over Juventus in January of 2021 was his most significant moment at the club so far.
Speaking to InterTV, via FCInterNews, the 23-year-old looked back on his perfectly-placed ball to his Inter and Italy teammate which proved to be a pivotal moment on the way to the Nerazzurri winning the Serie A title during the 2020-21 season.
Inter got one of their most significant wins on the way to the 2020-21 Serie A title when they beat Juventus in the first league meeting between the two.
Up to that point, the Bianconeri were defending champions after having won each of the last nine titles.
However, Inter’s win proved to be a kind of changing of the guard moment, and the goal scored by Barella who was picked out by Bastoni was one of the most emblematic moments of that victory.
“My favourite moment in a Nerazzurri shirt was my assist to Barella against Juventus,” the defender said.
“I played a fifty-yard long ball, and he took it down and found the back of the net,” he continued.
“In addition to the assist, beating Juventus was an important moment, they’d been winning the Scudetto every season for so long so it was essential that we beat them to eventually triumph,” Bastoni added.
