Italian journalist Enrico Mentana believes that anyone who believes that Inter would hastily sell midfielder Marcelo Brozovic lacks an understanding of the Croat’s role in the team.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster RAI Radio, via FCInter1908, the journalist dismissed the suggestions that Brozovic could be a player who the Nerazzurri are increasingly willing to cash in on.
In recent weeks, there have been suggestions that Inter would consider Brozovic to be up for sale, or at the very least not to be completely untouchable as had been the case less than a year ago.
The reason for this is that the team as fared better than expected in midfield whilst the 30-year-old has been on the sidelines with injury, thanks in particular to the outstanding performances of Hakan Calhanoglu in the regista role.
For his part, however, Mentana hardly believes that the emergence of Calhanoglu in that position means that the Nerazzurri would quickly sell Brozovic.
“Please, Inter fans,” the journalist said, “when you hear people still saying that Brozovic could be sold, take pity on them for me, because it’s clear they don’t understand Inter or football.”
