The tension between Inter and AC Milan continues to grow, with frustrations over plans for a new stadium leading to a breakdown in the relationship between the clubs.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport by journalist Luigi Garlando, the fall out is akin to a “cold war” between Chinese-owned Inter of Suning and American-owned Milan of RedBird.

With communication now almost non-existent between the city rivals, Garlando highlighted how the failure to make a breakthrough in securing plans and moving ahead with a new stadium to replace the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza is at the heart of the matter.

The plans were first proposed almost four years ago but have now been left to wither, with reports that Milan will look to move ahead by themselves but will not communicate their intentions to Inter.

Meanwhile, it is highlighted that the two clubs always shared a respectful rivalry, with the San Siro bringing residents of the city together, but the Chinese and American owners are struggling to co-exist.
