Ex-Fiorentina Midfielder Massimo Orlando: “Inter Milan’s Calhanoglu Has Filled In Well But With Right Mindset Brozovic Will Reclaim His Role”

Former Fiorentina player Massimo Orlando expects Marcelo Brozovic to reclaim his position in Inter’s midfield from Hakan Calhanoglu this season.

The Croatia international missed much of the first half of the season with an injury sustained on international duty in September, prompting Calhanoglu to drop into a deeper role and catch the eye with a string of impressive performances there.

In an interview with Italian radio station TMW Radio earlier today, and as reported by FCInterNews.it, Orlando claimed that Calhanoglu had performed admirably in the role but if Brozovic was focused, he could reclaim his spot under coach Simone Inzaghi this season.

“The Turkish player did well, but if Brozovic returns with the right head that is his role, especially in the final part of a season where Inter are in the running for almost everything,” Orlando declared.

Brozovic suffered a further injury during Croatia’s run to the semi-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar in December, limiting his appearances for Inter after Christmas.

However, the 30-year-old former Dinamo Zagreb man is expected to return to Inzaghi’s team for tomorrow’s Serie A clash against Bologna.
