Inter director Piero Ausilio was in the stands during Roma’s 2-0 win over Red Bull Salzburg in the Europa League, as he monitored potential transfer targets from the Austrian club.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Tuttosport, Ausilio was at the Stadio Olimpico on Thursday with the intention of tracking Salzburg centre-back Omar Solet as a replacement for Milan Skriniar in the summer.

Skriniar is out of contract at Inter and is expected to join Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent, leaving the Nerazzurri on the hunt for a new defender.

Whilst the 22-year-old Frenchman struggled against the Giallorossi, and failed to impress in the Champions League against AC Milan earlier in the season, Ausilio remains interested in him due to his physicality and being right-footed.

Torino had made an offer for Solet last summer but were put off by Salzburg’s €12 million asking price, though it is reported that this has now risen to €15m.

This remains within Inter’s budget, as they seek a low cost replacement for Skriniar and face financial constraints that would prevent them from splashing out heavily.

Elsewhere, Ausilio also took a closer look at forward Noah Okafor and midfielder Maurits Kjaergaard during the defeat to Roma, whilst Inter are being linked with Nicolas Siewald, Luka Sucic, and Lucas Gourna-Douath.
